My name is Ginger Fitch. This is my third year at Cornelius Elementary and my twelfth year in education. My husband, Jason, and I moved to Charlotte eight years ago. We are originally from Rochester, NY, but as a former military family, we've moved around quite a bit. We have a dog, Mellie; she is our furry baby and we consider her part of the family. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, running, cooking, and reading.
I am the literacy facilitator at Cornelius and my job is to collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support our students' learning. My goal is to create a culture of literacy by developing the students' and teachers' love of reading and writing. My duties as a literacy leader include coaching teachers, leading professional developments, modeling in classrooms, and helping our teams make decisions about instructional practices. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to love what I do.

Here are my top ten favorite things about life in education:
- Helping teachers solve problems
- Watching kids inquire and resolve to figure stuff out
- Learning something new EVERYDAY
- Inspiring others to try new things
- Collaborating with other dedicated professionals
- Laughing everyday. Kids are so funny!
- The books! So many children's and professional books to read
- Watching kids (and teachers) grow and be creative
- The hugs! And smiles on the kids faces
- It's hard work, but that's what makes it rewarding
